What is the keto diet, and why does it work?

Keto is short for Ketogenic. It is a style of eating that emphasizes high fat, high protein, and LOW carbohydrate levels. When carbs are low in the diet, the body switches to a different fuel source: ketones.

What if I have a cheat day or make a mistake?

Because of the process that happens on this diet, called “ketosis,” one really cannot indulge in “cheat days.” In order to lose weight, the body must be in ketosis. A cheat day will end that process and you’ll have to start over. However, if your carb levels are still below 100g/day (on your cheat day) and you do go out of ketosis, it won’t be quite as difficult to get back into ketosis, at least not as difficult as it was the first time.

Is this challenge suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! I don’t know about you, but when I start something new, I find it’s nice–really nice– to have guidance, at least the first time!
